October

It's hard to believe another month has come and gone. October was a fun and eventful month for us. Here are some of the high- (and low) lights from the month:

Eric, Abbey and I drove to Utah to see my parents before they went to Peru to serve an 18-month mission. Abbey had a TON of fun spending time with cousins and her Grandma and Grandpa Zimmerman. Here she is with my dad. [As a side note, I love this picture because it shows Abbey with all her favorite things: 'quack' PJ's, Elmo, her blanket, and sucking her thumb.]

Eric turned 31 this month. After 9+ years of being married birthdays just aren't that big of a deal for us anymore (unless it's Abbey's b-day). Eric bought himself his own gifts and we watched a movie at home. Boring, I know.

While this wasn't Abbey's first Halloween, it was the first Halloween we actually participated in. Abbey was Elmo and we took her trunk-or-treating at the church--which she loved. She was so excited that she giggled and jumped up and down: one of the ladies said "How cute! She's 'Tickle Me Elmo'!" To which Abbey responded by giggling more! After trick-or-treating we carved pumpkins.

Eric and I took our first big step towards our kitchen remodel by ordering our new kitchen cabinets. I'm super excited! We're now in the process of picking out tile for the floor, counter tops and back splash. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures. Click here to get an idea of what we ordered.

Abbey continues to learn new things and her verbal skills continue to amaze me. She's quickly learning the alphabet and new words. Here are some of my favorite things she said this month:

  • I told her we were going to the store and she asked: "W store?" [Walmart!]
  • She came into the bathroom where I was getting ready for bed and asked: "Mom, where did my Dori book go?"
  • Anytime she sees the letter A she asks "A for Abbey?" or "A for Apple?" or "A for Elmo?" [she's still learning :)]
  • She told me: "I'm going to eat the 'nana all gone for a minute."

Those are just a few of the things that happened this month. I hope November is just as fun and eventful! (Well, except for my fall off the porch--a week-and-a-half later I'm still recovering!)

I love the cabinet choice. We have maple cabinets with a natural finish and my only complaint is that they have yellowed over time. They still look good, but not as natural as they used to.

Cute video of Abbey and fun update. Love you!

I hope that is what your kitchen will look like when it's all finished, cuz that was an awesome kitchen! But really I like the choice of cabinets. It's hard to remember that my neices and nephews grow up, because I'm not there to watch it. I can't believe how much Abbey is talking. She is talking in full sentences!
