One thing that I love about Abbey's daycare is that Monica (or as Abbey calls her, Mommyca) not only watches Abbey and her own kids, but she also does thing to help them learn. Recently she's started teaching the kids about a different letter each week. This week she is teaching them about the letter 'c'.
Yesterday Abbey came home with a construction paper car and today Monica had the girls make caterpillars out of a construction paper chain (similar to the chains we made as children to go on the Christmas tree that we tore a piece off each day to count down to Christmas). When I called home tonight Eric said Abbey wanted to talk to me so he put me on speaker phone. The conversation with the three of this went a little like this:
Me: "What did you do today?"
Abbey: "Mommyca's make cow powder." [And other things I couldn't understand.]
Eric [to me]: "She's holding up the caterpillar she made today." [cow powder = caterpillar!]
Me [to Abbey]: "Oh, you made a caterpillar today at Monica's?"
Eric [to me]: "It's a chain. I didn't know what it was until Monica told me. She said the eyes wouldn't stay glued on."
Abbey: something I can't really understand
Eric: "They read 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and now Abbey's reading it to you."
Eric [to Abbey]: "What do you want to eat for dinner? Cow powder?"
Me: "Great"
Abbey: "Want cow powder!"
Eric: "I was just kidding we don't each caterpillars."
Abbey: "Want cow powder!"
Eric: "OK, how about we have chicken and cow powder?"
Me: "Nice." [read sarcastically but with a big grin]
Did I mention I love my husband and my kid?!

Cute story!
Sooo precious. (And no, I´m not saying that with Brent´s sarcasm.)
That's nice that Abbey can learn her letters while at daycare. I've been wanting to do this with Grace, but haven't yet :( Oh, did I tell you that I found Abbey's Waterford DVD! When I send mom's christmas package to you, I will send it as well.
