Recently I introduced Abbey the Waterford Early Reading Program, specifically the Rusty and Rosie DVDs which I'm sure most of the Zimmerman family have (http://www.waterford.org/index.jsp). Abbey loves them. Right now her favorite is the Letter Sound Songs (or maybe I should say "Sss sss songs").
Call me a bad mom for letting my 2-year-old watch TV, I'm OK with that. When I start to feel guilty that she's watching them I remind myself she's learning. AND I'm getting stuff done--yesterday was the first time in six months I took a shower without her in the bathroom with me.
And so I say: Thank you Waterford Institute.

I wish I'd had those DVDs when MY kids were little, as well as a DVD player in the car, etc. etc. You don't know how lucky you are.
Give Abbey a kiss for me.
Now if she were watching "Dancing with the Stars" then I would say you are a bad mother. (Just kidding, Andrea!) How wonderful that she can learn to read while being entertained.
You never need to feel guilty about letting Abbey watch WATERFORD dvds! That's like feeling guilty that your kid is reading scriptures! Oops...watch out for the lightening strike ;-)
Grace loves these DVD's as well. I think it's the only thing that I feel good about Grace watching, because the are educational. I think Grace learned her letters by watching them, I sure didn't teach her!
