Since several other people in my family already answered these questions, I thought I'd do the same. Here's a quick look back at my 2007:
1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before? Worked for Directv; went to physical therapy; put Abbey in daycare; other stuff I’m sure.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions (for 2007), and will you make more for next year (for 2008)? Can’t remember what my resolutions were for 2007, don’t think I kept them; haven’t kept the resolutions I’ve made for 2008—but I guess there’s still time (lose weight, read more, make dinner).
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Andrea and Erin
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope.
5. What state did you visit? Utah
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? Sleep--but then I ALWAYS think I could use more sleep, even when I get plenty of it.
7. What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I don’t know about “etched upon [my] memory” but I went back to work March 19, 2007.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Guess it all depends on your definition of “achievement” some days making it to work on time was quite the achievement.
9. What was your biggest failure? Honestly? We didn’t go to church enough and failed to make it to the temple all year. Shameful I know, but at least my “biggest failure” isn’t dishonesty.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? For the first time in my life I got laryngitis. I also had to go to physical therapy for a pinched nerve (or something like that—it’s too hard to explain so it’s easier just to say “pinched nerve”).
11. What was the best thing you bought? The Toyota 4Runner.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? I would have to say Eric’s. He was as patient with me as ever.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Besides my own?
14. Where did most of your money go? House payment
15. What are you most excited about [in 2008]? All the books I got for Christmas.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? Don’t know.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier. Last year at this time I came to realize I had to go back to work and I was frustrated and stressed. Surprisingly working hasn’t made me more so
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner!
c) richer or poorer? Well, I did go back to work so I guess you could say “richer,” but I’m still by no means ‘rich’.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Reading, spending time with Eric and Abbey, working out.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? TV watching.
20. How did you spend Christmas? Eric, Abbey and I had a quite Christmas together just the three of us and then I had to go to work (but only for 2 hours).
21. Did you fall in love in 2007? Well, I don’t know that I fell in love because that makes it sound like I wasn’t in love before—but my love for Eric and Abbey grew and is deeper.
22. What was your favorite TV program? The Office.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? No.
24. What was the best book you read? Hard to say. I guess Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was one of my favorites.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Who came up with this question?!
26. What did you want and get? More sleep—2007 marked the beginning of Abbey sleeping through the night.
27. What did you want and not get? To be independently wealthy so I could stay home with Abbey.
28. What was your favorite film of this year? I’d agree with Andrea: Bourne Ultimatum. We saw lots of movies, but this is the only one we were excited about and then not disappointed with.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 31. I worked. It was my 3rd day and I didn’t even tell anyone it was my birthday because, well, I didn’t really know anyone yet.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Winning the lottery. No really, I’m not sure about this one.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? I finally got over the fear that if I bought new clothes—after losing weight—I’d somehow gain the weight right back. For the first time in a long time I was excited to shop because I realized I was a size I hadn’t been in years.
32. What kept you sane? Eric.
33. Which celebrity did you fancy the most? While I don’t consider myself celebrity obsessed I sure did think Matt Damon did a good job in Bourne Ultimatum.
34. What political issue stirred you the most? I’m politically agnostic, so I guess that means none.
35. Who did you miss the most? My mom and my sisters.
36. Who was the best new person you met? I met a lot of new people at Directv and they are all very nice, helpful, friendly people, but I don’t have a “best” new person.
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007: That which does not kill me only delays the inevitable. Just kidding. Sometimes life requires me to do things I don’t want to or don’t like but these things are necessary if I want my family to be successful. Specifically: me going back to work. For my little family, this is the correct decision—even though it may not be the right one for someone else. It was a hard decision—one I avoided for a long time—but one I finally had to do. While going back to work added some stress, in many other areas our stress level diminished.
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. “And in the end // the love you take // is equal to the love // you make.”
